Donkey Dreamland Marks Five Years of Kindness and Care
In the hills of Benalmádena, on Spain’s Costa del Sol, Donkey Dreamland is celebrating five years of rescuing abandoned and mistreated donkeys. Founded in 2020, the sanctuary began as a humble effort to give neglected animals a second chance. Today, it has become a beloved destination where visitors can meet the donkeys, join guided walks, and learn about animal welfare.
To mark the anniversary, the centre is holding a weekend of events, including farm tours, music, and talks about donkey care. The aim is not only to celebrate but to raise awareness about the ongoing need for rescue and rehabilitation. Many donkeys arrive at the centre in poor health, but with care and time, they recover and thrive. Founder Karen Misson says each donkey has its own story and personality, surprising many visitors with their gentle and intelligent nature.
Relying on donations and volunteers, Donkey Dreamland continues to grow in impact and reputation. It has become a place of quiet compassion, offering both animals and people a peaceful connection. As it enters its sixth year, the sanctuary remains a reminder that small acts of kindness can have lasting meaning.
