Scientists in India are building robots that move like snakes. These robots do not have legs or wheels. Instead, they slide and twist to get through small or dangerous spaces. This kind of movement can help in many situations where other robots cannot go.
These snake robots are made from soft materials. They do not have hard metal parts. That makes them safer and more flexible. They can move through narrow places, like inside a collapsed building, to help find people after an earthquake or explosion.
The robots work by using air or electricity to bend and move. Some can even change shape a little to get around obstacles. Scientists also hope to use these robots in hospitals. In the future, a soft robot might go inside the human body to give medicine or help doctors during surgery.
One special thing about this project is that the robots are cheap to make. This means more people around the world could use them, not just big companies or rich countries.
These robots are still being tested, but many experts believe they will be useful for rescue work, medical care, and exploring hard-to-reach places.
