France Celebrates Bastille Day with Parades and Drones
On July 14, France celebrated Bastille Day, its national holiday. It marks the start of the French Revolution in 1789, when people stormed a prison called the Bastille. This day is a symbol of freedom and change in French history.
Each year, the biggest event is a military parade in Paris. Soldiers march down the Champs-Élysées, and planes fly above the city. This year, a group from Indonesia joined the parade, bringing music and colour from their culture.
In the evening, people enjoyed concerts and a special drone show in the sky. These lights replaced some fireworks to help protect the environment. Many families watched from near the Eiffel Tower or from their homes.
President Macron spoke during the event. He said France would spend more money on its army. This decision comes as Europe faces more conflicts and safety concerns.
Bastille Day is both a celebration and a reminder. It reminds people of France’s values: freedom, equality, and brotherhood. It also helps people think about the country’s future and what kind of nation they want to be.
